First time rebuilding a 8.6

Hi y’all this is my first time rebuilding my 8.6 in my 2003 Tahoe 5.3. I’ve re-geared to a 4.11 and am setting my patterns. I’ve got my backlash at 9 thow and this is my first pattern. Is this acceptable or what changes should be made.

Looks a little off-center. Some installers choose .007 as their magic number. If memory serves, .009 is near the upper limit.

Did what ya said, I added a 0.07 shim on the left side and my backlash is at 0.07 now. Here’s some photos, does the pinion depth look ok?

Ring & Pinion Pattern Second Opinion

I am looking for some input on this. I have gotten some mixed suggestions so far. I have done quite a bit of adjustments and so far this is the best pattern I can come up with. It is new gears and all new bearings.

How does my ring pinion pattern look?

I got rid of the g80 and installed an eaton truetrac and installed 4.10 motive gears. Ive never done this before so its taken weeks for me to get it close to specs. If you can tell me how my pattern looks and any advice will be great

Sorry for annoying y’all, but here’s my final set up. I had to add a shim to the pinion and add my crush sleeve eliminator. And change out my setup bearing for my finals and here’s what I got at the end. What do y’all think?

Are those 2 cut gears or 5 cut? if two cut drop the lash lower, or they will whine a little on coast 3-6. if 5 cut 7 would be perfect middle of the road. Also If you could run the compound thinner it would give you a better idea of the true pattern, doesn't look bad though maybe a tad deep, but not terrible what pinion shim thickness are you running?

I'm running 0.034 worth of pinion shims, stock was .030
