so this info is buried in a thread about something else. so figured I'd update by starting a stand alone thread.
if you need to program or update modules from gm tech line site. I've now tested this on my 2011 yukon (hybrid but shouldn't be any different) and a 2014 volt and it works.. the gm site is a bit of a different story, I'm told it's a bit of a Java heavy app that it runs on your computer. so make sure it's not an older slow laptop. check acdelco site for their computer requirements and make sure you have it.
it's 45$ to license the vin for 2 years and can be used as much as you want for that one car for that time.
the dongle is the OBDx Pro gt. it's 140$. it's not the cracked China stuff, it's legit guys coding behind it. they offer good support if you need them. the module is meant to flash tunes for older ls ecm's, but they added the pass thru code to update the other modules too.
my volt needed a update, it was free for a amount of time. which of course I forgot about, so it wasn't free anymore. this total is less than one module program from gm. so it felt like a win win.
yesterday I got around to checking my yukon and it had a few updates. mostly the hybrid side stuff. but it flashed everything just fine.
I have a China tech 2 but I have zero desire to fight with the software or the nanox stuff. this is just like legit gm stuff, just install the program for the OBDx so your computer sees it, go to tech line. it finds the dongle and flashes the car.
