Fog Light bulb 5202 alternative?

I have one of these burnt out and they are $25 at the auto parts store! I thought that was pretty ridiculous for one light bulb. Does anyone have any firsthand experience with any alternative bulbs like LED, that work better than the original? I see some threads where they look better but put out less light than the original bulb, would rather stick to the original bulb if that’s so. Also don’t want to go HID in fear of melting the housing.
