Ford to Yukon XL

After getting shafted by buying a 6.0 Super Duty, and putting up with a piece of crap Windstar, it is time to look at a leap to a Yukon XL. Trying to get something with less than 30K on it. Is there a year to avoid? An engine or transmission combo that is bad news? I have had over 25 cars and trucks, mostly Mustangs, and all Fords. I don't want my first GM experience to be a poor one.

Ya no major problems. Did you want a Denali or just the regular Yukon with the 5.3?

Probably end up with a Yukon XL due to cash. Love it the Denali, just can''t pay for it, fuel the 6.2 and a wife and three kids.

The 6.2 was fast, but I don't want to feed it. Has the "active fuel management"(?) been working out OK on the other engines? We are able to go with a Yukon XL because we are going to trade in a 6.0 Ford truck. We are doing that because that engine is a time bomb. Power to spare, but when something is wrong, it is incredibly expensive. I do not want that to happen again. We need reliability, then power.

yeah the 5.3 is more than enough for the average driver and is strangely rated to tow more than the 6.2. I stopped at a Subway in Puyallup like 2 days ago when I was driving back from Seattle.

The Denali I drove was at the Ford dealer near the Subway. I lived in Aloha/West Hills Portland for a few years.

It will be a daily driver, not a hot rod. If it tows anything, it will be motorcycles.

I get 15mpg with my denali... mainly city and the occasional 14 mile trip on the highway

Get one with the 6spd trans. the 4spds are junk. any engine will suffice. The bigger ones are just more fun.
