My wife has an 04 Yukon SLT and we love these year models. We have a family of 5(6 yo, 2 yo, 11 mo) so I recently sold my 1999 Tacoma to get something for me that we can all fit in. I've come across a 2001 Tahoe LT 4x4 with 230,000 miles for $2500. Only thing wrong with it at the moment is it needed knock sensors replaced which the guy is doing as well as changing the intake gasket while he's at it. I drive 30 miles round trip to work 5 days a wee which is what this truck will mostly be used for. Does this seem like a good deal or no? My other option I've come across right now is a 1996 Yukon SLT 4x4 with 180,000 miles for $2995. Thoughts, opinions? Thanks

Just for work you are looking at 7,800 miles a year.

one thing i would do with a 250k vehicle if it is going to be your DD and a reliable family ride is to make sure that the oil does not smell BURNT. same for the trans. check both of those thuro. These motors will last and last IF MAINTAINED AND NOT ABUSED. With that said i would do a simple maintenance on the truck if you purchase. Service the oil, trans, and rear diff, spark plugs and possible wires. check the cabin air filter under the glove box and the engine filter.

Drive her and make sure the steering is tight and the ride feels correct.

230 is not too high these days on this gen motor. i know people with 450 on a 2013. and over half a mill on the NBS generation. once again check her over thuro

Thanks for the replies. I purchased the truck Friday. So far everything looks good. I did a tune up on it Saturday even though the guy said it didn't need it. I wanted to ensure it was good to go. Did oil change, plugs, wires, etc. I'm thoroughly satisfied to have paid $2700 even out the door for this truck. I think I will have many enjoyable years out of it. Now to get to making it mine :);)
