New member here, just bought a 2003 Denali about a month and a half ago. Took my first long road trip from vancouver area to shushwap lake (about 4hrs). I guess whoever serviced the front diff last didnt tighten the drain plug well enough, drained all the gear oil and cooked the bearings. Was able to tighten the bolt and limp into kamloops, topped up the oil and replaced the 3" round plastic breather plug on drivers side top which had melted... along with that chunk of metal on the back of the plug now floating around in my diff.. not much cash and a long way from home.. i drove to shushwap and then back home.. bearings screaming and the gears biting that piece of metal every once in a while. So its safe to say i need a new front diff. My questions are what is compatible? From what ive read 1500, tahoe, yukon,*avalanche. What years? 00-06 only? And i found a front diff from a yukon but was told it had 3.73 gears and my Denali has 4.10 is this true? And if so what would be the best match? Any help is much appreciated!!

The sticker in the glove box should have "RPO" codes that will tell you what gears it came with, along with other info. Google or use this forum to decide it.

Ive done some searching and have found bits of info, such as removal/install. So basically i just need to find out my gear ratio and match that to any GM 1/2 ton around the same year? Will check RPO codes when I get home, thanks for the help!
