is the connector burnt? does it have any black marks anywhere on it?

i had an issue where the bulb was fine, but wouldn't turn on. tracked it down to a bad connector so i cut it off and installed a new one i bought at the auto store.

checked my connector as pictured above. no signs of heat whatsoever.

so i really think its got to be an excessive bibration/movement thing.

when I install the bulb correctly, I can wiggle it quite a bit in the socket. There's a little plate with torques bolts holding it on and that plate appears to be mildly worked a little bit allowing for the excess motion so I took some tape and wrapped it around the tabs on the ballast of the bulb and the fitment is much tighter with zero movement now so we'll see how this goes. Good thing these bulbs are only eight dollars

so far the new bulb is still working after being secured from excessive (i think?) movement.

well i have to knock on some wood but so far, adding a bit of black tape (1 layer) around the tabs that secure the bulb in after turning it, the effect of tightening up the connection, has worked.

light is still working after a couple weeks. the last 2 replacement bulbs have died within days.

As any Chevy tech will tell you in here... I have replaced more pig tails then you have changed your socks!!! very simple dealership sells them whopping 20 minutes if you're slow to cut solder and heat shrink new ones.

thnx. does excessive movement count as a reason why they were replaced? i was under the impression from what inreadbtgey were typically changed because of burnt plugs.
