hi guys, 2006 denali xl.

front driver side headlight keeps going out.

not sure what is going on.

wife says a couple times she pulled up the curb into the driveway and she could see from the reflection that the light which was off, came on briefly, then off again.

the bulbs are not "burnt out".

i am starting to think it is the connector and i have been replacing bulbls that still work fine!

thoughts? experience?

Could be the connector has some oxidation. Try scraping terminals a little with a dental pick, even better with a piece of emery cloth if you can and then apply some dielectric grease.

connector was fine. bulb toast. i put the dielectric grease in. but it ate the one "eurolite" eurolit3 9005xb im a couple months.

i pulled the other harness that is right behind this ine and put grease there as well.

i noticed the connection in the housing of the light isnt the most solid. meaning when you insert and twist, its got a bit of movement while in the seated or locked positiin. do these type of bulbs die from a bit of shaking?

With the bulb on and hot. The vibrations will not help and can cause the element inside the bulb to break. Another issue is when you replace the bulbs, make sure your fingers / gloves are clean as body oil does not help the life of the bulb also. Try to pay attention to the o-rings that the bulb seats onto the bulb housing. When I went to hid's I know they came with a thin o-ring and a thick o-ring. Maybe the thick o-ring will help it seat better.

in both cases ...the original bulb that lead me to buy a two pack of the eurolites, and now this one eurolite.....

both lights were out but the filiments were fine. not broken.

does that tell you anything?

If you have a volt meter, I would ohm the bulb to make sure the bulb is okay. I have seen cases where the bulb seems okay but bulb is bad.

Next thing to do is to test for power and ground. The wiring of my denali had a 9005 extension that loops from the headlight bulb to another connector behind the headlight assembly. Got to make sure power and ground is going to the connector and going pass the extension to the bulb. If your connection seems loose I would use a small flat head to pry the female terminals so it's tighter.

need some help here. the driver side headlight has now blown 3 new bulbs.

the filiment in the bulbs is fine.

anybody know how these bulbs work? they are the 9005 bulb. it must be getting too much voltage?? what part of the bulb is frying if the filiment is not blowing?
