I had a similar problem.. Come to find out, It was a loss shock bolt.
I had a buddy almost bounce the front end to find it. It helps to have someone manhandle the front while checking on concerned sounds.

We did the bouncy bouncy to, Dan. Irregardless, if it still makes the noise after the pitman and idler arms are replaced, then check shock bolts. It'll get figured out. Right now just a piss-me-off.

I have this exact issue on mine as well. I also feel a clunking under my foot when i brake and I hear one in the rear of my truck. I will be checking all of the suggestions on this site this weekend. Hopefully I find the answer. I only have 90k and have replaced the tie rod ends.

ok guys we figured it out. Put it up on the hoist this morning. Cv joints tight, suspension components tight. Torsion bar end bushings appeared good to go. But when my guys took hold of the driver side front tire and moved it left to right, we heard a clunk. Grabbed the passenger side tire, heard a clunk emanating from the drivers side. Idler arm and pitman arm have significant play in them. Ball joints good, tie rods and ends appear good. Will replace both pitman and idler arms. Ne ed to go anyway.

i was a front-end mechanic for 10 yrs. In tire shops anyways when checking front end parts(ex. Ball joints) leave truck on ground and have a buddy rock steering wheel left/rt. Lt/rt a few times( truck not running) watch all front end componets bad ones will be obvious good luck gentlemen
