Hello all. I need some help. My 2003 Tahoe is making a humming noise from the front end. I have gone through this before and figured it was a wheel bearing. I had the right side replaced a few years back. The sound is audible over 20mph and definitely at highway speeds and when decelerating. I tool it to a local shop. They put the truck on the lift and performed the normal tests. There was no noticeable play. I hear the noise while driving and when turning to the right. When turning left, weight transferred to the right side, the sound goes away. I figured it was the front left wheel bearing. I just had it replaced, and the sound is still there. Maybe not as loud as before, but still noticeable. Any ideas or suggestions?

I had the same thing happen. Turned out to be bad wheel bearing. I replaced both hubs at the same time, but your left to right example means its more than likely the older hub finally going bad. Mine had a dull roar to it and when the weight shifted off the bad bearing it would stop.

Bottomline2000 you are right. I changed the right hub bearing Monday and the sound is gone.

Mine is making same humming noise but when I get about 30 mph and decelerate or just let off of accelerator above that speed and when slowing down. So basically just needing to replacing both from bearings? What about U joints ?
