I went with a refrigerator door magnet stuck right to itLooks like they’re steel but if you’re not sure use a magnet. It won’t stick to aluminum. If the magnet sticks they’re steel.

can you switch to aluminum if you originally have steel, or does that affect everything else that was set up from factory? Would be nice to drop some lbs of un-sprung weight...
Yup. It's like clipping a rhinoceros's toenails to help it maneuver better. Ain't gonna make much difference. A friend of mine switched to aluminum control arms and felt no noticeable difference in handling or ride.You can if you can find them but It doesn't save as much weight as you would hope.
@randeez swapped his over, on his race truck, along with the aluminum spindles from a '14+ Silvy and it shaved 46 lbs total or 23 lbs per side.
Just aluminum control arms VS steel control arms saves 24 lbs total or 12 lbs per side.
