Front license plate horror show

Technically if you're parked on a public road, you CAN get a ticket by those MeterMaids here in California. It's not a moving violation, but by not having one, you're obstructing them and law enforcement from identifying your car. It's also one less duty law enforcement officers have to deal with, when they could be focusing on hardcore badguys... The same applies for those people that would drive older cars with brand new dealer plates to avoid registration and/or paying fees. California eventually cracked down on that practice. I know you said you've been lucky not to get a ticket, but I've been ticketed twice while parked for not having my front license plate... And I also live in Los Angeles.

I presume you got those tickets as a result of parking where you shouldn't have or the meter was expired and you were getting ticketed already? because I don't see the meter maid going out of there way to write tickets for no front plate alone because there is a exception in the CA. law that states if the vehicle did not come with 2 plates then it is not required.
I have been more than just lucky I have a wall of tickets and not one for no front plate, I have been ticketed a couple times for front window tint which is illegal but that's it for "technical" violations.
bottom line I think is if you are up to no good and want to be completely legit, be legit
if you do not want a front plate don't have one and if you get a ticket so be it pay it and be on your way.
like I said I have had a couple for window tint, the ticket was like $275 I paid the ticket and left the tint on, not going to go thru the hassle of removing it and putting back on, I paid it and moved on I could care less part of living how you want to there not going to toss me in jail for window tint.

So many people tint their windows here in California that it's not even worth mentioning it... In fact, there are a lot of technical, moving violations, and stationary violations that law enforcement will literally do nothing about it. Even if it happens right in front of them.

When I lived in NY I took my front license plate off my Genesis G80 because it totally killed the aesthetic and where I lived in the suburbs they never really broke balls. I kept the plate in the car just in case I got pulled over I could blame the bracket or something. I drove into one of the NYC boroughs for lunch and parked at a meter, and fed it. It never expired and I had plenty of time left on it when I got back from lunch and was welcomed to a lovely $150 fine for no front plate. Meter maid went out of his/her way to ticket me. After that I zip-tied the plate on through the bottom of the bumper whenever I had to go into the city.

Luckily GA has no front plates, my county has no inspection sticker in the window, no registration sticker in the window.

ya I do keep my front plate in the back of the truck under a matt just in case i ever need to provide it, I also bought a set of magnetic mounts so if I ever do get a ticket for it I can slap it on and have it signed off since all it would be here is a "fix it" ticket and then put it away again, no harm no foul.

Someone mentioned 3M tape. It looks like the GM plate bracket / holder for the Tahoe has 4 rivet holes. Would the bracket / holder stay on if you put 3M tape at each of those 4 rivet locations?

maybe for inspection or ticket write off, I wouldn't leave it that way it will vanish on the highway

I bought my Tahoe out of state in Pennsylvania. Jersey requires a front plate , I guess PA doesnt because they never installed the bracket. It’s in the back with a little bags of rivets. I initially thought the same thing, that I didnt want to drill my bumper, but in the end I will. Need a rivet gun. Funny, the car I traded in had the same issue.I zip tied it onto the lower grill. Can’t do that with this Z71 as there is no lower grill.
