Fu@kn cali SMOG!!

So i went to smog today and i passed the visual and blah blah blah

but i failed the second driveabliity test
it was a little hi on hc (hydro carbons) witch i think it could be my cheap cat i installed

and second it had high NO (nox) or whatever

anyone kno how to fix that wasnt that high ither
but it failed!!

i just replaced the egr valve and the engine light still comes on at times, so idk

one thing after another on this hoe!!

Have you checked what code you are getting?

Could be the cat, could also be the ignition. Whens the last time you did a tune up? any Vacuum leaks? what type of gas do you use?

im running 87 octane, i did a tune up a few months back, wires plugs, and the cap was clean, so idk i think the hc is a bad cat but im not sure on
nox

and when i put seafoam thro it, it didnt even smoke kinda weird..

i havnt put a code reader on it yet bit the light rarely comes on

Quality gas?

You checked you compression recently too didn't you?

You don't need a code reader. Get yourself a paper clip and jump Terminals A and B, start up the truck, SES light should flash the code.

oh yeah i forgot about the jumping pins, ill do that i havnt dont the compression test yet

nobody to turn the key as i watch the gauge

all my friends always need help workn on there cars and nobody helps me

so ill check compression and mayb another tune up, then play with my ignition, and get a new cat ill keep ya'll posted thanks!

I feel ya bro...I already KNOW my shit wont pass smog once I finally do end up having to take it in (March 2010)...I start my truck and stand behind it...and I get high lol...its pretty bad =(

My registration (tags) ..AND my Drivers License expired in December 2007...(while I was in Iraq)

Then I got back...and registered my truck in Oklahoma in March 2009...but I left my CALI plates on it with the Dec/2007 tags...all the way up till last month when I saw a cop turn around to get me so I pulled into a parking lot and put the Oklahoma plate on it (I carry it behind my passenger seat)...I went 7 months with my old plate on it...and I've been pulled over with them on it...and never got in trouble...

Im just going to leave the OK plates on it till March when I get my new personalized plates and registration...plus, I have an excuse to run around Cali with no front plate (Truck is registered in Oklahoma...Im just visiting Cali) since fronts aren't required there lol

Im running around with a John L. Sullivan license plate frame from the dealer when I first got the truck...while I was in Oklahoma...someone even drove up next to me asking me what part of Sac I was from.. I asked how they knew I was from Sac and he said he saw the John L. Sullivan frame and he used to live in Roseville lol
