Thanks for coming back and explaining the solution. Gauge stepper motor issues are common in the 2003-06 clusters. Easy enough to replace if you have basic mechanical and soldering skills.
Is this problem across all GM platforms? Having a fuel gauge problem with my 05 Express van. Not sure if it's the gauge, stepper motor or float.

TBH, I'm not sure. Those clusters seem to be somewhat different from the SUV clusters. Maybe someone else here would know.
