Before I have the boys swap out my fuel sender is the "Range" on the computer connected to the sender or the stepper motor in the gauge? Both are all over the place and I have to guess as to how much is in my tank based on when the needle stabilizes.

Thanks

The range is calculated by your average mpg and fuel tank level. If the fuel tank level is erratic then you need to replace the sender.

What he said^, and while you're in there, replace your fuel pump, too. Sometimes you can get just a sending unit without the pump, sometimes not. Just a suggestion.

I had the job done a few years ago on the truck. I also did the stepper motor in the speedo and think I might have done the fuel as well so I was just confirming.

Fuel pump has been replaced and all is good.

I get all my parts from eBay so far so good. My mechanic did not see anything visually wrong with the old sender but kept it in case we need it
