I'm planning to buy a 96 Yukon. The fuel gauge remains at the 3 o clock position at all times (which is well past the FULL mark). It remains there while the engine is off or on. I've seen it fluctuate once since test driving the truck.

Have any of you had the same problem? I'm wondering if it's a problem with the gauge (hopefully) or the fuel level sending unit...

TIA

I thought this may have been a common problem. Nobody has run into this before?

I have a 2000 gmc, same body style as you though and my fuel gauge reads past full when I have a full tank even after a new sender/pump.

You need to check the harness leading up to the pump connector, they had a bad habit of getting bad connection. Bad connection =high resistance. high resistance=heat and heat=melted plastic connectors.
