Thanks for the help everyone, I really appreciate it. I'll be going ahead and replacing the entire assembly while I'm that far into it. I'd much rather do the job once than multiple times. Hopefully it didn't do anything to the rings either since it's been sitting for the last couple months and I don't think it had the problem before then. It has only run once as far as I know of with the problem so hopefully everything in the motor is still good. I will do an oil change right after I change the spider assembly out and probably one other time pretty soon after that again to make sure. Thanks again guys.
