Fuel Pump Replacement - Cost?

Dealership says $850 to change out on my 2001 YUKON. Is this legit?? I know it's labor intensive but...

My guy hit me for $827 total. I know he wouldn't screw me over. I know I could have gotten a cheap ($200) pump and done it myself, but like so much more not having to deal with it. plus having the warranty (see, someone else to blame) if something goes screwy...lol

unless it takes two full days to replace no way anyone should charge you $500 in labor.

Unless it`s for warranty work, Never go to the dealership.

Find a private shop and i`m sure the price will be way less than $800.

more like the pump was $550 (yes, I know you can get a cheapo online, but again rather pay extra for the ability to fingerpoint, ie not have to crawl under the truck myself...i hate changing fuel pumps more than any other part, lol) and the labor was $200 plus tax, etc.

do it your self and buy a after market fuel pump / performance like mine a 255lph fuel pump just cost me 200

That is actually about right cuz a good quality fuel pump that is an OEM part or better will run you $500 for the pump. It's a very expensive part.

I've found aftermarket pumps don't last as long and in a relatively short period of time you'll be back replacing it again.

yup. Talked to my GM mechanic friend this weekend at a car show, OEM fuel pumps he said can range from $400-$500. Lucky for me I got him to do some stuff for me on the side.
Paid $680 for my sons to get replaced two months ago.
At least dealer installed is lifetime of truck.....some like piece of mind.

Cost me $350 for an OEM pump from the stealership and about 3 hours of my time swapping it out about a year ago.. surprisingly it was pretty straight forward.

Man, I feel ripped off. Paid a local shop here in Austin $860 to install a new fuel pump (Delco).
But I was in a rush, they new it, and had it ready the next morning.
I paid dearly for the quick service.
