So I wanted to try something my Dad told me to do which was to change out the Speed sensor in the back of the transmission. I replaced it with a new one and now my Yukon will not even shift out of 1st gear. I have to give it gas off and on to get it to shift. I decided to put the old one back in and it is still doing the same thing....won't shift out of first. I am now seriously thinking it is the PCM. has anyone here had to put one in and who is a reputable company to purchase one from?
Id look at the wiring harness at the plug of the speed sensor and see if a wire didnt break. May have to do a continuity check all the way back to the PCM. Also verify that you didnt swap in a bad sensor by checking to see if there is an associated trouble code stored that wont go away without clearing it.

OP, I would implore you to drag the thing to a dealer or other independent transmission shop for a second opinion

My fear as this goes on is, it'll make it easier from the original shop to distance themselves from the issue *if* it can be tracked down to an error on their end
I have already suggested this twice but he seems to want to trust the original shop no matter the results. That’s the first thing I would have done after they told me it wasn’t the transmission.
