In the previous generation, AFM helped to lower fuel consumption, and at the same time we still got the power of V8. So that is a win-win in my opinion.They get 17/23. My 2018 suburban was 16/23. The 6 cylinders don't help them at all and they're only besting the burbs city because they have start/stop. So really the new GMs dropping 3 mpg is really disappointing. But only real world testing will tell i guess.
Those 2021 suppose to show higher mpg for all new tech (DFM-start/stop-more aluminum body parts-independent rear suspension)
