No, that thing will be red hot in a few seconds. Spend the money on a real load resistor, they're not that expensive.

you need a 6 ohm resistor, one per side. I got mine from autolumination.com

Those taps splice into the wires leading to the bulb, one on each side. Think of it as wiring it in like the bulb itself.
