There's no known difference between the two. I have what was called the G3s, and others here have the G4s, and there appear to be no differences at all.

I thought the difference was the 4's have the load resistor but the 3's didn't?

I had to add a 6 ohm resistor to each for the turn signals, it comes with like 12 ohm ones and it's not enough...

Do you just tap the additional resistor directly onto where the existing resistor is? I've ran across a couple of post on this forum where people were asking about how to add the additional resistor but I don't think anyone reply to those. I'm still new at this, so any pointer would be greatly appreciated.

1. Take the resistor box that came with the lights and throw it in the garbage. If possible back over it a few times or smash it with a hammer to relieve the frustration associated with the fast blink.
2. Take the end that plugged into the resistor box and cut the plug piece off, exposing 2 wires.
3. Splice the new resistor into the 2 wires with one going to each end of the resistor.
4. Mount the resistor with double-sided tape to the taillight housing where the old one went. I know they say that it can get hot, but I've never had my blinker on long enough for it to cause any issues with melting plastic.

lol...i guess no need to ask on how you feel about the built-in resistor now.

Thanks for the info. I'm still trying to find a place to order the light. I'll try to post the update once I get my lights in.

this may sound like a NOOB question... but like a diode, are the resistors unidirectional?? Or can they be put in any way youd like??

It is just two wires you splice together... the black wire goes with the black wire and the green wire goes with the green wire. Basically you are replacing the 10 ohm resistors with 6 ohm resistors. I have the G4 LED's and also ordered vled's 6 ohm resistors and I ended up NOT needing them at all and they are just collecting dust in my garage now. Some people however do need the resistors because of the fast blinker issue. I bought them before I even got my lights in the mail just to make sure for an easy 1 time install!

O.K....Please educate me here. I was just on ebay looking at the G4s, then outside smoking a cigarette and looking at my stock tail lights debating whether they would look good or "ricery" (I think I like the look). If I decide to buy a set of these, will I have to add a resistor to increase the load/avoid a fast blinker issue..Or are these plug & play?

I HATE aftermarket tails for some reason. Then I saw some pics of peoples tahoes with the G4 LED tails... It is pretty much the only after market tail light i've ever liked. They look stock since they are all red and pictures of them don't do it justice. Mine were plug-n-play. Others on the forum have said they needed the 6 ohm resistors to replace the 10 ohm ones that come on the G4's. Guess you will never know unless you get them.

My G4's still have their stock resistors with no rapid blinking problems whatsoever. I guess it depends on each set produced.
