I got the G4s today but can't test them until tomm. There's a small box shaped thing marked " resistor" attached to the wires. Is this something added or will another resistor possibly be necessary?

Thanks

That's fine, it's supposed to be there.

Just test them and if they work, stick the box on the back of the housing with the double sided tape it comes with.

This is a picture for another purpose, but you can see where I stuck the resistor just below one of the connectors:

Sorry for the ignorant question.

So the only 2 options for all red tails like in Soulsea's sig are the G4s that seem to have a pretty good bit of problems with hyper flash or condensation or the G5s and I would have to get Esky appliqués for them to look right.

Well, there are actually at least two manufacturers that I know of that sell G4 type tails: Eagle Eyes and Anzo. (there might be others but I don't know of them)

The two sets I had that were defective were Eagle Eyes, and that's usually the ones folks buy because they are half the price of the Anzo. But after my personal experience with Eagle Eyes I now have the Anzo.

Anzo btw does not make G5s, so the only two options there are the plug and play Eagle Eyes or the escalade oem with a modified harness.

It should be noted that Eagle Eyes G5s don't seem to be as inconsistent as their G4s for some reason.

I installed them today and they seem to work fine. I also sealed the edges with silicone around the lens. Hopefully that keeps moisture out.

One thing I found odd is the ignition switch must be "on" for the brake lights to function? Same for the turn signals but that is normal for the stock tail lights also I believe. The hazard and parking lights operate w/o the key on.
Overall the quality seems pretty good. The included instructions were odd because it instructed me to remove the stock reverse light bulbs and reinstall them in the new lights even though the new lights came with reverse light bulbs already installed? It also instructed me to reconnect the battery terminal even though it never told me to disconnect it.!

I have the G5's and I do not have the escalade appliqués.... It does not look bad at all but if you are OCD then you will have a problem..... Other than that they don't look bad.... I will be getting them later on I just got an esky 3rd brake light installed today.....
