Wait so only premium doesnt contain ethanol? and what even is ethanol? i thought it was all about octane ratings
In Ontario that's true. Well, Shell in Ontario. I only use Shell 'cuz I use the company gas card.
Every Shell station gas pump has labels outlining the Ethanol content per blend. Only premium has 0%. I forget off hand the other grades blends. I'll snap a pic the next time I fillup.
It's just curious that we see a whole lot of fuel pumps needing to be replaced in older vehicles over the last couple of years, vs early 2000's. I'm not saying anything mind you, I'm just saying....it's curious.

It depends on where you live in these here United States. Local laws govern what kind of gasoline is sold in your area. Ethanol is one of the oxygenating components, but there are others.
Aside from the problems alcohol can cause, it does by itself have higher octane. It does not have the same power per gallon as gasoline and will always cause your mileage to go down.
If the EPA had it’s way, we would have ethanol in all gasoline from coast to coast. It’s also interesting to note that they have to drop the ethanol content during the winter months, because it causes hard starting if they don’t……
I’m not familiar with how you do the link button here, but here is a web site that explains how it goes…………..

That's some more good reading...
I didn't know that ethanol blends were different state by state. All of Ontario has ethanol content. I just assumed it was everywhere by now.
