So why is this attributed to full fill ups as opposed to just age and needed maintenance if it takes years for the issue to arise?

If it were just filling it up and stopping when the pumps stops, no problem. He had mentioned topping it off. Not sure if it would take years for a NNBS considering all the electronics involved. I'm still new to the NNBS and am not familiar with how sensitive these systems are. While my 2dr was an older vehicle it was well maintained. The only reason for that said issue was because of topping it off.

I know but you said it took years for the issues to crop up which raised my previous question. I'm just curious is all.

When the pump shuts off I pull it out (giggity). Never understood the point of trying to put more fuel in.

Ill always round up to the next dollar. If it clicks off at $81.19, Ill go to $82. Never thrown a code in the 138k miles Ive had this one, or the 153k in the last one.

Next dollar will not be a problem 99.99% of the time. Its when you go a couple gallons more. I'm talking really topping it off. Learned my lesson after a road trip and I wanted to get as much gas as possible. BAM! CEL came on not 20 miles into the tank. IT was the purge valve solenoid. Cheap fix, $40 I think for the kit I found on Amazon. Never had a problem since and I most definitely associate it with the "over filling".

I'd have to guess it took that long as I had not had an issue before hand. I tended to top it off more after our move, being in a new area, the last thing I wanted was to get stuck in an unfamiliar area.
I'm a stickler for maintenance (preventative as well as regular), so as far as I'm concerned it wasn't that ;), that's just between you and me.

Like ksk said, a few cents here and there wont do much if anything. Its when you throw in and extra couple of dollars is when it will start effecting things. That's exactly what happened with me. Like ksk, after replacing said parts, no issues.

Shhhhh, I think we can squeeze by the radar unnoticed. Just don't look straight into the monitor and put black tape over the camera ;)
