My wife filled up her gas tank in her 2000 Z-71 (old body) and it is started to leak. Turns out the hole the pump goes into is now oval and leaks. Supposedly the fix is to buy a new tank and at this point putting a pump in it would be a good idea. The tank is a dealer only part and the whole job will cost in the area of $1200. Anyone have another solution? The tank is plastic and $690 from the dealer.I feel like that is a huge rip off! I know I'm new to this board but I am hoping for some newbie help:)

Thanks in advance!

Thanks! I am checking salvage yards as we speak. Is this a common problem?

I wouldn't think this is common as plastic is pretty durable. I would also check an auto body as they will probably offer Keystone automotive which I have found is pretty reasonable and usually exceed OEM standards for rust and quality.
