Hello,
The under hood insulator is out of LMC Trucks.com. about $300 for the piece, $750 for the custom paint job. I think it looks GREAT!!! I have not seen another one yet. It's a nice detail under the hood. The photo's were from an overlanding weekend in the Tobacco Root Mountains in Montana. That place is paradise on earth.

The inconspicuous winch installation was the result of three years of research of how to get a winch mounted cleanly. Have pulled numerous people since the installation. I didn't realize how handy having it is. Does anybody know if there are any Overlanding groups or clubs in or near Dallas Tx.? I rode with a group while in Montana, had alot of fun but it was a Toyo club. Sadly most were obsessive about their trucks to the point of being snobby. It was funny when my Tahoe pulled four of them out of the deep snow that weekend. They all talked crap about my Chevy until I pulled the first one of them out of a snow bank. Suddenly the appreciated it......

Look on Overland Bound. Lots of overlanders in DFW.

Snorkels (in general) are not intended for water treading they are designed to keep sand and dirt out, just something to ponder
as mentioned above I wouldn't go in anything much above a foot deep about the bottom of the door seals after that you risk water intrusion into almost everything
ya maybe you could splash across something deeper real quick but these trucks are not made for that, take a look at the military hummers for instance they can forge up to 30" because of the high suspension and larger tires and solid bottom, after that they take a special kit.

Some research to add for you. May not be Tahoe specific although 2nd link sort of does.

^^Guys have good points to consider.

Almost every other 4x4 in Australia runs a snorkel for the dust and the rivers. They actually have packages from the dealers and plenty of 4x4 shops to outfit them.

Toyota Landcruiser, Nissan Patrol and Mitubishi Pajero are king there. Plus the Hi Lux, Ranger, Triton on the mid size.

Might give you some ideas, further info or at least helpful knowledge.

Nice undertood bowtie BTW. Nice touch!

The under hood insulator / liner is from LMC Trucks. $290, custom paint job $750. I have not seen another one yet. And yes there is heat insulation behind it.

Hello forum, Glad I found this site. I have a 2005 z71 4x4. I have done quite a bit to it and have loved the improvements. Currently researching installing a snorkel to it. From what I have found out, a specifically "made for" unit but no one seems to make one for a Tahoe or Yukon. I have found that unit for the 90 - 97 Land Cruiser 80 mounts up pretty cleanly. Does any one have any info to share?View attachment 371084

"filled south sand" (?)
Took a few minutes for me, but I think I got what he meant...

Filled tube with sand to hold the round shape of the tube while heating with the heat gun and bending.
Sand would keep the softened tube from collapsing in or creasing while being bent.

Pretty crafty solution to make that work, I would say.
