.. If I can pick between these. I need help deciding, so heres what I need.
1. They need to connect to my stock y-pipe
2. They need to work with air-injection. (Question on this.. The air injection system is the tube running into the drivers side manifold closest to the firewall right? Just wanted to be sure so I order the right one.)
3. Don't tell me none of them I really don't want to go over $265.
Here are my options:

Doesn't Matter
I've been looking around for headers also. From What I've been told Hedman is right up there with companies like ****** as far as quality goes.

No, the driver's side mount closest to the firewall is your EGR tube. If you had A.I.R. injection, typically West coast vehicles (California, Seattle, etc...), there would be a connector on top of both manifolds in addition to the EGR. Also, there would be a pump behind the driver's side lights where normally there is space for a spare/second battery.

If you look at the Flowtech smog headers in the last link, you will see at the rear where the EGR tube screws on. In the front is where the A.I.R. injection tubes would connect on both headers.

  1. Each of those should connect with your stock y-pipe... shorties are designed to be drop-in manifold replacements - no exhaust mods necessary.
  2. Since you're from/in TX, I doubt seriously if your ride has AIR. The EGR bung is in the location you mentioned. AIR is another beast altogether and is typically associated with a Cali setup.
  3. I have no personal experience with shorty headers, but have always heard really good things about Gibson's quality fit/finish. Wish I could be of greater assistance in your branding hunt... just make sure you get flanges that are thick and flat and look for thicker gauge piping - it'll last longer.

All are good brands, I hear the Summit Racing ones are brand name but just sold under their generic listing. I don't recall which ones they are, but someone will chime in to give the correct answer.

You should have hit me up a few months ago. I let go of my silver ceramic coated JBA's for roughly the price you were wanting to spend in order to switch to my DT Tri-Y's.

I was leaning towards those too.. The only thing that has me hesitant about those is the flange thickness, and they are 18 gauge as opposed to 16 gauge. Anybody care to chime in on that?

Stay away from hedman I had a set and they
were horrible in fitting up leak free. I went with
edelbrock which summits look exactly like.
I have used summit products over the years with
no issues at all.
