I have HP Tuners and have thought about it but I do like the benefits of it. Hell, I even kept it on my ls swapped 74 C-10. Its not a major improvement in fuel economy but it does help. I was like OP when I first had issues and saw all of the same info on the internet with folks having the same issues and wondered why GM kept using it...then I thought about the millions and millions of engines they have produced compared to the folks that have issues out it, its probably less than 5%. I also look at how many people go 5-7500 and even more miles between oil changes and never use enough oil to give the low oil light warning. I think its like everything else automotive related, your going to have issues somewhere on something no matter what company makes it.
