Well I decided to jump right in after I posted this thread this morning. Started at 10:35a and by 11:20a I was done. And this was with a 5 year old and a 2 year old that kept coming to the garage to ask me if I was done yet. Install was really easy. I only had 1 extra part (pic below) that I did not know where it went. The instructions were ok but the images (B&W images) supplied were a bit difficult to make out. Regardless I have installed cold air kits on several of my cars so I had an idea on how it went in. :D I took it for a spin around the block and there are no engine lights on. Everything looks GTG.

The hose that runs from the radiator to the overflow tank sits above the MAF sensor. I tried to re-route it through the bottom but it was about 3" too short. It would look a lot cleaner if this was was re-routed. Maybe I'll do that next.

How much?

A buddy of mine works in the parts dept at a GM dealership. Got this cold air kit, 8 OEM plugs, and the 2 engine belts for $300. :D I figured the price for this alone was about $250'ish. I told him I could sell him a couple more of these cold air kits if he'd let them go for $250 but he said no, lol.
Anyhow just went for a drive and first impressions is WOW. The SOTP meter says this was a good mod. When I step on it there is no hesitation...it goes. I need to do the plugs here in the next couple of days. My Tahoe has 80K miles.

I think that part is a grommet that a the radiator overflow hose goes through.

I have a K&N and I went out to see what the grommet was for on mine. Well I can see where it was, but it is missing and the thin metal is starting to work it's way into that hose. I am going to have to do something about that shortly. Glad I went and looked.

Btw I really like the way that looks!! The K&N is on my 01 Yukon, I might go this route on the 04 Denali.

There is no way the radiator overflow hose will go through that grommet. The grommet inside diameter is about 1/2". The radiator hose outside diameter is about 1". Hopefully somone with this kit will chime in. You have me worried now.

By the way, the instructions tell you to install the 90deg elbow on the TB and then to install the other 90deg elbow on the MAF sensor. Then to install the polished piece between them. This would have been a PITA. I installed the elbow on the TB then the polished piece to it. Then the other elbow to the polished piece and then slipped it over the MAF sensor. All the clamps were a bit loose so I could rotate as needed until everything was aligned. Then I tightened them all.

Did not intend to get you worried. I am glad you posted and that I went to see where the one I was thinking of went. Not sure what else that might be for. In my kit there were several large rubber washers that are used as vibration dampeners use between mounting pionts and the filter box used on the mounting bolts.

The gromment isnt for the tab that sticks out on the box in the first pic?

I dont think I would reroute that coolant hose under the intake tube. That may cause a problem with it sending the overflow coolant back to the tank.
