I installed the gms 04 on my Aftermarket HU, horrible wiring instructions, but I got it connected.

Has anyonne used this harness in order to keep onstar, doorchime and factory bose system?

Important question is, when using this harness do you need a steering wheel control harness in addition to it? The GMS 04 has a "headphone" wire off of it with no instructions as to where it goes to. The steering wheel control harness seperate from the GMS04 also has the same type of connection.

In order to keep the steering wheel controls DO I NEED THE SECOND PAC harness? Or just the GMS 04?

The instructions for the PAC harness are non existent..............

third picture is of the pac harness (blue and its "headphone" wire along with the other 13 with no instructions as to where to go.

the gray pigtail goes to the aftermarket head unit for "steering wheel remote control terminal"

4th picture is of the pac steering wheel control harness with the same headphone wire and a dozen colored wires

my GOMS-04 doesnt have a headphone jack for the steering wheel controls, but the GMOS-014 that I had in there before that does... the difference is one uses the speaker level outputs from your aftermarket head unit and the other uses RCA's.

I think im good with the gms04 connections, aside from one smaller black harness that has no where to go. I am using the rcas for speaker level outputs as you said. Thanks ground, just saw that piece of paper, will check it out today, still too cold to attempt the install just yet

it does, the clarion has the pigtail listed as steering wheel control which makes me wonder if I even need the pac harness. The GMS 04 doesn't have any information as to what the headphone jack controls

Ya know, if they had just put that piece of yellow paper as the ONLY instructions in the package life would have been less confusing. I pulled up the pac website the other night but didn't find the vehicle specific instructions. Now that I have found them I can see what has to happen. Hoping to clarify a few things.......

"cut the brown loop wire and insulate both ends".......... Electrical tape or dead end wire cap correct?

what is the best way to tap a wire into the pictured harness? Doesnt look like theres much room to work with.

it says cut to break the connection, insulate the wire so that it doesnt ground itself and short out your system. either will work as long as the wire is suppressed/covered
you can just pull the single wire out of the plug
