I have noticed that in prior vehicles ('10 Yukon XL Denali) the leather gets easily cracked within the first 5000 miles. Does anyone know how to prevent this from happening? I have a Yukon Denali Hybrid coming on Friday, and I want to make sure the same thing doesn't happen. Also, has anyone had experience with the GM leather conditioner?

Keep them conditioned and oiled and you will be fine. Also don't get water on them and get some tint to prevent UV damage.
Didn't even know there was a Denali hybrid.

I have been in the auto detailing profession for 28 years now and have dealt with every grade of leather auto makers have used. One characteristic of leather is that it will eventually crack/show wear over time. It doesn't matter what grade of leather or how often it is conditioned. Saddle leather will show discoloration over time and generally doesn't crack.

The best advice I can offer is to condition the leather as often as you feel necessary. It will extend the suppleness of the leather. Cracking is going to occur just as aged skin will wrinkle.

OTC leather conditioner from Meguiars is OK. I prefer Chemical Guys leather condoner over any other. No greasy look/feel and is dry to the touch within seconds of applying.

I like leatherique products...but they're a bit on the expensive side.

To use the Leatherique products as the maker outlines requires more than 4 hours of cure time for the conditioner. Better results can be had with other products.

Spray or conditioner

I have Meguiers spray cleaner/conditioner in one. Should I use this or a dedicated non spray conditioner?

A cream leather conditioner will better ********* the surface in comparison to the spray. Meguiars makes good stuff for the exterior, but IMHO not so much for the interior.

check out Adams Polishes... I have their leather cleaner and conditioner products (two separate bottles). Very easy to use and apply and makes your leather smell like a fresh oiled baseball mitt. LOVE it!!!
