air bags are kind of hard to diagnose if you don’t have a scanner-I don’t recommend you to start plugging/unplugging cables and accidently set it off.
Every time you start your SUV the SRS system will run a test. if the light stays on, the SRS system has not met operational standards – (bad sensor/wiring= airbags may not deploy when needed)
have you installed any new electronics (radio, DVD system)which caused wires to be moved under the steering column?
Any front/rear end work? (bumper replacement) there are front and rear impact sensor in those areas- if they were tampered with, it could be the reason of the service light-
Try disconnecting the battery for about 15 mins and see if that gets it to go away, maybe it just needs a reset.
If it still persists, you may just want to get it scanned it for a full diagnostics
If you connect an OBD II scanner it will tell you exactly what code is being triggered and why the air bag light is coming on.
Good luck
