I agree that 22's have the correct proportions and on lowered vehicles they look awesome but at the age of 50 I'm willing to give up some looks for braking, acceleration and ride quality. We went from optional aluminum 17s on the '04 tahoe to LTZ 20s and they did bad things to all of the above. I realize that the gmt800s don't have near the structural rigidity as the current gen GMT900s, and I also realize that since the GMT900s were designed to have 20s from the start, they can probable handle 22s as well, I just don't like a heavy wheel.
I'm probably being too conservative but that's just where I am at right now. Since I've been on this site I've convinced myself to go from 17s to 18s to 20s on our next 'hoe. LOL.

I think these gmt900s were designed to a certain degree for 22" wheels because gm wouldn't offer 22" accessory wheels if they thought people wouldn't like the ride.
I think 22" wheels are perfect for stock height.
Lowering to me makes the truck need bigger wheels to look right.

I personally could never justify buying the same size wheels that come on the car (IE 20") but that is partially because I like big wheels but 22" is PERFECT for factory height. 24 and up is a no go at the factory height.

I can tell no difference in ride between 20 and 22. But 22" handle better but no difference in comfort to me.
24 tho....different story

I've had 17, 20, 22, and 24 and I think 22 has the best of both worlds. Clean look without the ride quality suffering too much.
