Hey all! I have an 09 suburban 4x4 (I know not a Tahoe) with a growling noise/humming noise in the front end, kinda sounds like I got mud tires on it! It gets louder the faster you go, changed both hub assemblies, front differential, cv axles, tires, brakes, rotors, calipers, front u joints and drive shaft, before I lose my mind, does anyone have any other suggestions as to what it may be?!

With all the parts you have already done, my guess would be front differential...
Unless you got a defective wheel hub assembly for some reason
or a bad differential.
Does it change at all when you "lean" it left or right ????

I did the front dif! No change in going left or right. I’m totally stumped, I’m about ready to try replacing the hub assembly one more time and then call it quits

replaced the tires?

don't know if it will help, I saw a tip years back where you can listen to the front coil spring while turning then wheel to hear bad bearing. something like a long screw driver to your ear while you spin the wheel. the spring amplifies the noise you can't hear on its own.

If you don't have a bad hub bearing and you've replaced pretty much the whole front end, it is possible it's not the front?

My husband has an avalanche same bolt patterns so I swapped tires hoping that was it but no change with that. I keep wondering if it’s in the back but it’s just so loud and noticeable up front, today I’m going to sit all the way in back and make my husband drive me around lol

Did you put the truck up on a lift with the tires freely spinning, put it in drive, and then take a stethoscope and listen to the various moving assemblies? I had a humming noise in the front end, and my mechanic used this process to identify the source of the issue (in my case, it was the front differential).

I have not done that yet, but that’s a great idea, I’ll do that this weekend at the shop and go from there, we already did front diff. Ugh

Do you think a transfer case would cause this issue?!

Transfer case could cause a constant noise for sure. Be worth draining the
fluid and looking at it really carefully. It's just Dex VI fluid, so cheap enough to
check/change to rule that out. The old cases had a chain drive that could certainly
growl... IDK how these ones are built internally though

And really inspect those tires... all of them
I had a noise issue with my pontiac a few years ago...
I just knew it was trans/converter related...
brought it to my trusted trans builder... He replied "look at these tires"
The insides of the tires were worn making the noise
