Well the last truck i posted about the dealer went bankrupt inbetween me paying for it and picking it up luckily i didnt pick it up because he doesnt have the title and is forced to pay me the money i spent and has since sent it in the mail at least thats what hr said so we shall see ........so i had to look for another one pretty quick as my 96 2 door is limping a bit burnt starter on friday has a skip/hesitation in highway and while replacing starter noticed frame rot on both sides ....this is a 2001 Tahoe Lt with 229k doesnt engage in overdrive 1 2 3 shift fine thinking it may be the solenoids gonna swap out and cross my fingers any feedback appreciated needs a tie rid and has a hit behind rear passenger fender also have a 01 z71 parts truck also so thats a plus

Good thing is i just got the check so the guy wasnt lying and really is going bankrupt and thankfully this black one only cost me 600 bucks so i have room for repairs

Instead of messing with the transmission in the one you just picked up, why not swap the one out of the parts hoe?

Cuz its more work to swap trannies over swapping solenoids also thats alot of work and im not to familiar with doing that swap

Getting delivered today from laconia nh to worcester ma for an extra 125.00 no brainer for me cant wait to start the process of making this a relaible daily

Well just drove back from picking it up guy didnt wanna come all the way here so.it was about 45 mins out ....had to drive home at around 50 ish mph has to feathered into 3rd and 4th is jon existant other than that its a nice vehicle makes me excited to get it fixed 1st and second shift flawlessly very smooth engin is super quiet overall condition other a hit to rear right fender behind the wheel its pretty sharp looking underneith is very clean also


My question is this do you think its worth dropping the pan and replacing solenoids or is it just worth replacing whole tranny

No, sounds like trans is smoked.

Drive it first but I am going to say I wouldn't bother. Normally they are bigger issues in the tranny.
My vote would be replace it

I did drive it it has to be feathered from second into 3rd then no fourth at all

But 1 and 2 are super smooth
