Hard/ no start... agian

well my crankshaft was bad so i got in new shaft, bearings, all the inside basically but i dont believe he had to send it into the machine shop. i guess thats why i didnt pay a super high amount.

well best case im looking at $600at a machine shop. thats bore the cyl, deck the block, full valve job, pressure check, and deck the heads.. thats the bare minimum, not having any issues.. and cracks in the head are case by case.. So then add the 500 for the master rebuild kit im at 1100$ and i have to do a bunch of work. wait around for at least 4 days to get stuff back from shop.. this OEM replacement for $1800is looking real good..

and is all new castings and parts. just do it.

well poop. i did the compression test wrong.. i had a brain fart, i screwed up, ect, ect.. i did not open the throttle while doing it.. so im gonna do it again and will probably get better results..

well started pulling stuff apart and came across my water leak..... here are some pics

im so glad i found this water leak before it caused catastrophic failure.. heres the underside of the heads. top of the pistons on respected valves look the same, but cylinders are still nice and clean and shiny.. i still gotta do a good inspection on the cylinder walls before i call them acceptable.. heads are gonna go to the shop to get pressure tested and milled...

so i think gm designed intake manifold gaskets to fail from the start.. here is the old one on the left and the new felpro one on the right..
