Hi all! Really loving the power my 11 Yukon XL Denali has when towing. But when I stop to fill up (e85 or 87) it's really slow to restarted. This happens for almost 48 hours post towing then it gets better. Battery is fine. No codes. All temps check out ok. Is my fuel pump or water pump going bad?

"Slow to restart" as in cranks (turns over) slow, or cranks fine but doesn't fire up?

Just a thought, but if the second, have you tried starting it in clear flood mode, with the gas pedal to the floor?

The issue sounds a little like it might be heat soak, but that's just a SWAG.

Thanks for the reply. It's slow to turn over. Like what it would be if the battery were dying?

What is heat soak? Never heard of the method you described! Will certainly give it a try!

How do you know the battery is fine?
What are you towing?
Well, now I think it may be the battery. For the past two starts, it hard cranks at all. Will take it in tomorrow to test.

I tow a 24ft TT, 5,600 loaded. No interior payload other than 4 dogs, all under 40lbs.

Seems like you might be on the right track with testing the battery.

Also, I wouldn’t put 87 in a Denali if it were me. It is a pretty high compression engine. Modern EFI systems seem to be tuned to retard spark enough to keep the engine from self destructing by riding the knock sensors, but I think you are betting the system won’t miss a beat and also costing yourself a lot of power, power that you likely would appreciate when towing.

Seems in some areas of the country premium is priced pretty dear, other areas, usually less than 10% more than regular (it is like that here). I would at least do the math and calculate what the actual added cost is, say per year. Here I am looking at a couple hundred bucks a year more difference for premium, in my youth, just a bar tab. :)

Had the battery tested, it's ok. Alternator also good. Now I'm leaning to starter?

It barely starts now. Once it does start, it runs fine.

Do not run 87 in your Denali unless you are wanting to replace the engine. 87 in these motors wreaks havoc on the rings and pistons. This is probably why she doesn't run worth a damn.
