I was curious about swapping to a higher ratio roller rocker when my truck is apart swapping the fuel injector assembly. My truck is a 96 and is all stock. What ratio, what brand, where have you gotten them, and what kind of power did you pick up?

i have new comp cams 1.52 www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00062Z8MM/ that i will put in this weekend if i get up off my ass and take a break from helping you lot. i have used 1.6's for sale for $75 on ebay but did not use them because the pushrod holes on my new heads needed to be elongated to prevent push rod rubbing. no time or resources to do it at the time late 2011. and now that the heads are on i really dont want to take them off to do the holes just for the 1.6's tho EZDAAR will tell you it can be done with out removing them.

I'm looking for a simple bolt on upgrade since I will have the intake apart to do the fuel injection spider assembly

I want to know if I swap from the 1.5 stock arm to a 1.6 roller rocker will the stock valve springs be ok and will I need to retune right away? Also do I need to go with stamped steel rockers for valve cover clearance or can I run aluminum rockers? Which ones do I need to get? I need to know ASAP because I'm going to swap injectors first chance I get

stock springs will be okay with either. stamped steel roller tips are fine with the studs but if you go full roller rockers you should consider changing over to threaded stud if the valve train starts to come loose. as for aluminum the should be narrow body. either way you need 3/8" stud self aligning rockers.

dont think it will have a huge effect on tune. but ask the tuner to be sure. it really depends on past and future changes made.

What brand directly swaps in the heads as stock without machine work. It seems like I remember the Vortec heads have press in studs and for high performance applications you have the heads drilled and tapped for screw in studs. Is that true or am I remembering incorrectly? I want something I can simply swap and gain more lift and duration with a bolt on set of roller rockers.

The 1.52 is a stock ratio right? Do they offer them in a 1.6 or have you used them in a 1.6

I think I see what you're saying now, what is the power gain seriously in going from a 1.5 to a 1.52 rocker. Other than going from a stamped steel mass produces piece to an aftermarket piece produced by a performance company

not really mesured by anybody yet but comp says to expect 15-30 hp over stock rockers. most say the oem are not truly 1.5 more like 1.4 and comp says the same. the stock rocker do not have the roller tips either so the creates more friction to. with a roller tip and increased ratio you will get some horsies for sure. when i get mine in i can give it a comparison to other mods i have done. going to try for tomorrow.

There seem to be some similar to the Comps on eBay for half price. Since this isn't an all out race build that will spin 6500 rpm I wonder if they're worth trying
