So as much as this pains me to say, I’ve had my 18’ Tahoe 20 days and 1000 miles and my head is about to explode, the pressure in my ears is so bad that I have constant headaches, feel motion sick all day and wish I knew about this problem before I ordered my truck. I took it into the dealer yesterday, filed complaints with GM, and with the NHSTA. Because my truck has so many GM upgrades, ordered and delivered with them installed my dealer says it will be difficult to determine what is causing it. They also say they never heard of this issue....Hmmmm. I showed them two News reports from ABC and Fox.
Now I’m waiting for the call, “ we can not find the issue”. If so, I can no longer drive it, my wife won’t even get in it after a drive the day we took delivery, it made her sick immediately! WTF

Who has dealt with this recently, need pointers on what to do, or what their fix was. I Love my Hoe, and don’t want to get rid of it.

My Yukon SLE is a early 2015 model year build:
Since having my vehicle at the dealer in January 2015 (19 Days) the service department has completed the roof cross member re-attachment, road force balanced, alignment, new drive shaft, then new wheels and tires. The pressure/thumping noise was heard by the technicians and the service manager after all of the above things were done. The vehicle was back at the dealer in February 2015 for 11 days. The dealer had the zone area service manager come and drive the vehicle, he felt the pressure. Then the service concern was escalated with GMservice and an engineer was assigned to the case. He came out and drove the vehicle with me and the service manager. He heard the thumping and felt the pressure. As soon as we got back, he contacted the plant in TX and had a new Ring and Pinion sent directly to the dealership. After the tech replaced the ring and pinion the thumping/pressure is basically gone. The old ring and Pinion had excessive wear and uneven wear on the teeth. The engineer decided to put a set of Michelintires on due to some road noise/drone after everything else. They are still dealing with one related issue. When switching into Auto 4WDor 4WD High, the thumping/pressure concerns come back. The tech and engineer are going to check the front axle and transfer case next week. I have to tell you that the service dept. and the GM technical service group have been very helpful and have been trying to attack the issues. I will update again after they investigate the Transfer Case/Front axle issues....... They replaced the front Ring and Pinion and all the thumping/pressure went away. I haven't had any issues since February 2015........... Alex

I ordered my truck and took delivery without test driving. I had driven another one prior to ordereding mine and did not experience the pressure in the short drive. I also knew nothing about this issue until this past several days. Googling “does your SUV make you sick” wasn’t a thought. I owned a 2007 for six years and had zero issues. I didn’t start feeling sick until it had 300 miles on it. But my GF felt it right away. My Hoe has the GM Borla exhaust installed as part of by build which now the dealer is saying is the cause “drone” I know it’s not the exhaust drone as the pressure is constant on or off the gas ugh

Have them check the ring and pinion gears!

Phil, you need to check the Lemon Law in your state and follow it to a T. Document, document, document. Contact a Lemon Law attorney in your area, easy with Google search. In most states you do not pay up front and his/her fees are part of the settlement. Don't expect any help from GM corporate, they are not your friend. Ask those of us that have been through this how we know, been there done that. Good luck.

Sorry to hear. Ugh.

Can’t believe chevy hasn’t figured this out yet.

Just test-drive a 2017 Yukon XL SLT with 18,000miles and I feel like there was a bit of buffeting/pressure. I couldn't hear anything but I do feel like my ears were developing a bit of a popping sensation.

Anyway, I was definitely underwhelmed by the test-drive. I think if there was a 10sp tranny it'd be better. The 2nd row legroom is also no good with the driver seat back and the gas pedal is too close to the driver seat for me. I thought I had better memories :(.

Well I’m back, so dealership said after a 30 miles test drive “it was like being in a torture chamber” because I had the Borla exhaust installed as part of my build and prior to taking delivery. They said it’s the exhaust drone and put back on the OEM system. I drove it home so far 5 miles, I’ll drive it tonight to see if that was the fix. I seriously doubt it. While washing the truck last night, I observed a lot of play in the roof sheet metal between the front and first roof bow. I’m betting it’s not bonded which Perpetuated the exhaust drone in V4 mode.

Which is exactly what GM put out in PIT5318C. Hmmmmm!

Is the buffeting still present? The TSB may work but you'll see over the last 2-3yrs that in most cases it did not fix the issue. Will be curious to hear if the exhaust was the main issue or not.

i doubt the borla exhaust is main culprit.
given all the other threads & possible but not successful fixes out there.

i'd say the dealer is being lazy & blaming aftermarket, even though it has a GM p/n for the borla.
they need to look @ other items.

i think it goes to tolerance stacking... i'm thinking its a combo of fixes that actually fixes things.

true but sometimes, peoples idea of "buffeting" vary. Maybe it is the exhaust given his wife had issues the first minute of riding in the truck. I'm hoping the 18s aren't plagued with the same issue. I may just be taking a chance on a new model 18 expedition.
