We drove last night and the buffering was almost gone, the wife who said she would never ride in the truck again, said it was tolerable now and she barely felt it now. But did complain when driving in V4 mode. I’m unable to tell because my ears are so messed up from the last 20 of driving in the “torture chamber” everything hurts my ears and Equilibrium. The true test will be my 40 min commute tomorrow to work.
The Borla system does not have the valves to compensate for V4 mode and was a major contributor to the buffeting drone. I don’t recommend this system to anyone. Although it did sound awesome at WOT. !!

I believe the truck is still going to need another fix to resolve the issue. IMO the roof is the next fix as stated before in earlier post. My roof has too much flex in the area between the first roof bow and windshield. I’m going to stop at the dealer today while they are closed to check other Tahoe’s for the same flex. If not then that’s the next step.

My Yukon SLE is a early 2015 model year build:
Since having my vehicle at the dealer in January 2015 (19 Days) the service department has completed the roof cross member re-attachment, road force balanced, alignment, new drive shaft, then new wheels and tires. The pressure/thumping noise was heard by the technicians and the service manager after all of the above things were done. The vehicle was back at the dealer in February 2015 for 11 days. The dealer had the zone area service manager come and drive the vehicle, he felt the pressure. Then the service concern was escalated with GMservice and an engineer was assigned to the case. He came out and drove the vehicle with me and the service manager. He heard the thumping and felt the pressure. As soon as we got back, he contacted the plant in TX and had a new Ring and Pinion sent directly to the dealership. After the tech replaced the ring and pinion the thumping/pressure is basically gone. The old ring and Pinion had excessive wear and uneven wear on the teeth. The engineer decided to put a set of Michelintires on due to some road noise/drone after everything else. They are still dealing with one related issue. When switching into Auto 4WDor 4WD High, the thumping/pressure concerns come back. The tech and engineer are going to check the front axle and transfer case next week. I have to tell you that the service dept. and the GM technical service group have been very helpful and have been trying to attack the issues. I will update again after they investigate the Transfer Case/Front axle issues....... They replaced the front Ring and Pinion and all the thumping/pressure went away. I haven't had any issues since February 2015........... Alex
Bumped this just so more people could see it. Good info.

New member here, and for every vehicle I've ever owned or considered buying I scour the forums to find info, so thank you to all that have been on here and given your insight, I've learned a lot through your posts!!

I've been looking for a few months now, for 15/16 Yukon Denali for my wife to replace our 12 Honda Pilot. we love everything about the Yukon, however I'm concerned now after reading a ton of info on the buffeting and vibration issues. The hard thing is searching for the color she wants and being able to test drive multiple vehicles before buying. Is there anything else I can look for or ask the dealer about when considering a Denali? We test drove an SLT today, and I didn't notice anything, although we didn't get up to highway speeds, or over 45 at best.

I've read everything I can on this issue, but I'm hoping some good tips or advise might help when I'm looking at Denali's that are 2-4 hours away and I'm nervous about making that trip only to find out it's a Lemon!! with no fix to this issue in the 15-17 models, should I just look at something else or wait it out? Thank you in advance for any help or advise, much appreciated!

First off it does not affect everyone the same. Some are more prone to the issues and notice them more to the point of headaches and even sickness. Test drive at different speeds and always check the car fax for excessive dealer visits.

It’s been a good while since I’ve posted on the forum, But I bought a 16 Yukon Denali last September. Initially the vehicle was perfect, however it developed the buffeting issue around 3k miles. After reading all the issues I traded it in within a few hundred miles of that. These trucks cost way too much to have this issue IMO.

The 15 and 16s have some tranny reliability issues on top of the vibrations and noises. Look for hard shifts and delay then a smack into gear.

Well, I dropped my Tahoe back off today at the dealer for round two.

Today, the pressure was intense from 5-10 mph while on rough pavement, as soon as I went onto smooth pavement that pressure stopped. Weird as it’s not a drone issue but possible a suspension issue. IDK, that’s for them to figure out. It just sucks because I’ll take a bath on this truck to trade it in. I custom ordered it with $7k in options, put another $1.5k in paint protection and stereo upgrades into it. Ugh I’m so disheartened

There are a lot of (16/17 models) trucks used with only 5-10 thousands miles on them for sale which makes ya wonder. I'd like to find a used 17 with very few miles but given the issues with our 15 XL, it's going to be new or walk from gm. It's amazing 3yrs later And They still don't have an answer for the buffeting/vibrations.

I'm Going to test drive a few "new" 17 and 18 XL in the coming weeks and will then decide which direction to go.
