Drove to get my haircut today. waited till last minute of course because the wife's company has a huge Xmas party and I had to look like a super model. :Whoa:
Anyway I park and turn off my truck only to still hear the heater (blower) pushing out air. I can hear the motor turning, but on the lowest speed. so I HAD to get my hair cut or else the wife would've killed me. so I left the truck running while I got a 45 minute haircut cause I was afraid it would kill my battery.
Haven't checked on it yet, just parked it in the garage. will dig into it this week. but was wondering ahead of time if it's a common issue...thinking maybe it a connection melted and its grounding out:uhoh2:...but idk.
I've never came across this problem in all my years wrenching.

Also should mentire that I only have heat on the defroster no matter what setting. have full function in rear. but since I never drive it I didn't notice nor really care about heat at the moment.

Bumps, no rear heat now. Blowing on all settings but no hot air. Tackling this over the weekend hopefully.
When I turn on the heat it smells like burnt wires

sounds like you have a couple different things going on
1. blower motor resistor (cause's fan to not run on a specific speed or to run and not shut off or not run at all)
2. blend door actuator(s) these make the doors inside the vents switch the air flow down/forward,etc
3. blend door broken-this is when the little door breaks at the actuator and wont move regardless if the actuator is good or not.

all 3 are pretty common and are generally a easy fix unless you have a broken door or actuator that is inside the upper dash area which is less common but does happen.

I was gonna start with the blower motor resistor in the front. Has to be it, I don't think it's ever been changed.
The rear is acting weird, blows luke warm air, switches between the setting(feet, face). Just now it randomly shut off while on feet.
The heater core hoses are hot at the engine. So it's receiving cold air which makes me think it's a bad blend door. Plus the burnt smell like the heat is getting trapped and not being able to release into the vents

on the rear the actuator and door are just to the right of the caution sticker, you can unscrew it and adjust the rear heat and see if it moves or not, same for the door inside the vent take a look at it and see if the tab is broken where that actuator goes in.

well scratch part of that, just adjust the rear heat and look at the position of the metal part of the actuator (where the hole is with the slot in it) and note if it moves or not
