1. The odometer and drive indicator lights are out most of the time. They have only worked a couple of times since I bought the Yukon a couple of weeks ago.
Even though the odometer light is out it will the mileage still be accurate?
I am going to pull apart the dash later to install a backup camera is there anything I should check besides the wire connections?

2. I want to put the backup camera where the buttons for on-star are located
Can I just disconnect them or will that cause a fault code

3. Any idea what this switch might be for?

1. I'd check connections at the back of the cluster when you pull it for sure and check fuses if you haven't already.
2. I've heard you can just disconnect them but I have yet to do so.
3. Do you have a built in DVD player in your truck? If so, might be a FM modulator to transmit the sound from your DVD player to stereo

thanks
was hoping that it was a bad connection but contacts were nice and clean made sure it was tight when I put it back in but it didn't help
I'm hopping that because the speedometer works that the odometer is keeping the correct mileage just not showing it very often

It turned out to be alot more work to put the monitor in the dash than I thought
So I shortened the mounting bracket so it will be fairly tight to the outside of the dash
have to wait until everything dries to see how it will look
will still probably put it in the dash when I have more time to work on it

you nailed #3 that's exactly what it was

I downloaded a owners manual and found out that Yukon's have an hour meter
turn off the ignition and hold trip for 4 sec and it will display the hour meter
and now the odometer lights up again :)
pretty easy fix
and it was keeping track of the mileage when it was not illuminated

the backup camera don"t look all that bad mounted outside of the dash
that was $30 well spent
may have worked better this way because the monitors adjustment button are accessible this way
but still want to mount it in the dash in the future
