i am looking for ideas on a new head unit and to replace all the speakers.

For the head unit I would like it to have Bluetooth and built-in navigation and work with android phones. But I don't really want to spend over $400.

As for speakers I need to replace them because only a few work. Dont need anything fancy due to only listening to country music.
This is for a 2001 tahoe Lt

$400 is kind of a tight budget but you could probably pickup one of last years model pioneer or kenwood for a decent price if you shopped used on ebay, if you are not going to upgrade the speakers then just replace them with working used oem speakers or a 100% compatible a lot of times the oem speakers are different ohm rating than aftermarket speakers, which will work but usually at a reduced level unless you add a amplifier as well. you will need a adapter module for the head unit and a mounting kit, you can use the same dash panel trim and just make a cut on it or pick up a 04-06 dash panel trim (that is if you plan to go double-din)

84.99 if you can do without nav screen and just use the nav on your phone
kenwood kfc-1366s
39.99 for the pair front door and rear door
if your dead set on Bluetooth with a nav screen and your budget limit you can try your luck with boss BN965BLC
269.99
boss and dual aren't known for thier quality but crutchfield is known for thier customer service.
prices pulled from crutchfield.com
just a note though a nav unit is obviously going to be a double din unit so there's something about modifying something so a regular double din will fit.
either way i suggest looking at crutchfield for your stuff and if you have any questions they will gladly help you with your selection in your budget limit.

Kenwood DMX706S. It has apple car play and android auto which will allow you to use maps on the screen. It is about $400. A dash kit and wiring harness is also required (do not chop the factory harness to save $5).
I would recommend getting a pair of Kenwood or Rockford Fosgate speakers for at least the front doors. It is well worth the investment. Like others have said, a double din unit is not going to fit in your 2001 as is. Not sure exactly what modifications are required.

If going dd, you'll need a bezel from 03-06, along with the dd cage that the radio itself fits in. This is inside the dash, is plastic and is held on by rivets, which you can drill out. Not a hard mod.

Welcome to the Forum from NH.

You have received excellent advice above, and Crutchfield should be the place that you look to find a unit that meets your needs. Of course, keep Crutchfield honest, by checking Ebay and other places, once you have determined which specific unit your prefer on Crutchfield.

The mod to make your truck accept a double DIN head unit will be a challenge, but it is doable, as stated above.

Good luck on your audio upgrade project!

I am going to look them up and probably go with them. Thank you.

I’m about to do the same in my 01 Yukon.

If you want navigation, I’d recommend something that will pair with your phone and use your phone’s navigation.

Also, if you want an easier install, get a media player (doesn’t play CD’s), which will be more shallow, and won’t require you to cut/trim that internal piece.

Further, as Tonyrodz stated, you will need an 03-06 bezel, along with the birdcage (holder frame) for an 03-06 climate control, to make it all fit flush...

Or you can just get the Metra bezel which allows you to use the one you already have (which is what I’m doing), since it ends up being pretty much the same price after all.
