Headers on a 6.2L with Stock Muffler/Cat-Back?

I've never experienced exhaust small inside the cabin after installing headers on any of the vehicles I've owned. I'd say your G8 had to have an exhaust leak somewhere because I have ARH headers on my SS sedan and don't have any problems. Windows down will depend on which way the wind is blowing, it can't be helped if the wind is blowing the exhaust smell from the back of your car to the front.

Ok thanks.

I guess worst case if it does get in the cabin, I can weld the 3rd cat back in. I frequently warm the car up in winter, which is why I am a little hesitant about the install. Would suck to get in the car and it smells like exhaust.

I really don't think you'll have a problem. I back my SS in the garage and have never had the inside smell even warming it up in the garage (with the garage door open, of course, but still probably not recommended being backed in). I had the Escalade running in the garage for a bit the other day setting the gains on the amplifier I was swapping out and it didn't smell in the garage at all since the tail pipe is straight out the back. If I had my side-exit Corsa I want, I'm sure the garage would have smelled a little then.

Went ahead and got my headers installed! Brutal with the rusted on bolts, but got everything off without cutting in case I wanted to go back to stock.

Kooks 1 7/8" catted to factory muffler and resonator on a 2012 Yukon. It is very slightly louder out the tailpipe with a slight change in tone. Cabin is also slightly louder (you can hear the headers a bit). I noticed zero smell after driving 50 miles except when the engine is dead cold.

Overall I am very happy. It is exactly what I wanted. The only annoying sound is when torque management kicks in during a shift and it has a raspy sound to it. But I fixed that by tuning out half of the TM.

I'll take a video of it on Monday when it's not freezing out and I can actually clean the truck haha.

I haven't tuned the AFR for WOT yet. After I tune it I'll update on the performance. It's a big heavy truck with the 5.3 so I am not expecting much, but I am doing DOD delete soon and no way I was putting back on the rusted manifolds and y-pipe. I'd imagine headers, cam, tune will add 80-100 hp.
