Recently installed some projector lights on my 2001 Tahoe.

The left hand side low beam light is not as bright as the right hand side low beam light. I swapped the head light assemblies and the same thing occurred, the left hand side low beam is not as bright as the right hand side.

Basically the LHS headlight assembly that was dim on the LHS side of truck was now bright when assembled on the RHS of truck. And vice versa for the RHS headlight assembly was now dim when installed on the LHS of truck.

Felt is was a headlight assembly issue but felt the above test rules that out.

Checked the voltages coming out of the low beam connections. The RHS was ~12.3 and the LHS side was ~11.7. Regrounded the LHS so it is now ~12.3.

All bulbs except the high beams are brand new.

Not sure what to check next. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advanced.

Replaced high beam bulbs tonight and still same symptoms as described above.

Something else I noticed tonight is when I apply the high beams the LHS light does not work at all, while the RHS works as expected.

it sounds like you have a wiring issue, id try and trace the harness's back as far as you can, make sure there isnt a splice somewhere or a corroded wire, sounds like the high beam wire could have an issue, and check for a plug on the harness's to make sure it didnt break or come apart..

as far as the dealer yea they will fix it but for how much$$$ it can get expensive quick

Check your wiring, especially the connections at the bulbs itself, I had the same problem you had, just thought it was a bulb that was about to go out, a corroded connection at the bulb ended up melting the harness plug, I had to buy a new harness which required splicing in the new one but no more problem (even the bulb that I thought was about dead ended up brighter by the end of it!!)

Riverracing,

These are new head lights so the connections are not corroded. All the bulbs are brand new as well. The car side connectors looks pretty clean as well. The worst ones were the DRL but they are functioning fine.

Was think about running splicing into the RF power lead and running across to the LF head light assembly. Any thoughts? Maybe both will be dim?

Hahahahaha.

I'm not necessarily talking about the connectors on the bulbs, but am talking about corrosion in the plugs themselves, that's what happened to mine, chase the wiring back a bit and check it all!

I installed a new electric Fisher V-plow on an '05 GMC 2500 this week. After wiring it all up, which is basically plug and play, the LHS was dim and also went out when turned to high beam. I tried everything I could think of for an hour, it just didn't make sense. Then it hit me while checking my grounds....the LHS connector can be connected backwards.

Not sure if this can happen with your projectors but thought I'd mention it anyway.
