Clogged heater core? Co-worker had similar problem on an explorer. Flushing the system fixed the problem.

My 07 and my friends 02 had a bad blendor (blender?) motor. Both of ours only blew cold air. When I removed the blendor motor I could manually switch between cold and hot from underneath the heater core. The part was a little pricey, list was 260 at the dealer, although I was able to get the guy to drop the price to $180 after talking with him and mentioning that I own a car stereo shop.

Your proble, doesn't sound that similar, but it would be easy enough to drop the passenger side plastic cover by removing the 3 7m screws and then remove the blendor by unplugging it and removing two 6m screws. Then you can turn the shaft that the motor usually turns to see if that was the problem. Oddly enough, on the 02, the motor moved when it wasn't connected to the shaft, but in the 07 the motor didn't move at all.

I had same problem. One of the two coolant lines going to heater core on firewall was hot and the other was kind of warm. Problem was a clogged heater core. Bought a reverse flush kit and flushed it. Now blows hot.

I got my flush kit at schucks/o'reilly's, I'm sure they have it at autozone. And yes, haeting system is part of the coolant system. The heater core is like a small radiator. When the hot coolant goes through it, it gets hot and the fan blows on it to get heat to the cabin.

Heater core is on passenger side behind the dash. Usually these things are a pain to get to. If you get the flush kit, it's not very difficult at all. I did some research first because I was not very familiar with a 'closed' cooling system(no cap on radiator). If the people at your autozone are knowledgeable they can give you some tips too.

Id also recommend replacing the heater hose cinnections. I just recently had one of the couplers break on my heater hoses to the firewall. It takes a special tool to pull them off that only the dealer has and the coupler was only available at the dealer. It was a PITA cutting it off during a roadside repair. If it breaks it will empty ur cooling system quickly. Mine was all brittle like old cork.

Good to hear it was a clogged heater core and an easy fix. These trucks are fairly easy to work on.
