There are days when I get up that I feel my age and with all my years in shops, I cannot fathom how a fuel pump causes engine replacement. Sounds to me like the fuel pump WAS the problem and the engine MAY have gotten replaced, as a guess. If that is the case, like @blanchard7684 said, that dealer has a warranty chargeback coming.
