An old friend was a motion picture camera repair technician. They use hoppe's a lot on lenses and cameras fasteners. I don’t know what brands of thread lock, that hoppe’s #9 dissolves, but it has gotten me out of a few jams.

Glad it all worked out for you. I think the broken heater hose coupler is some kind of right of passage for Tahoe/Yukon/Esky owners.:)

Is it some sort of acid??

Here’s what is says on the label……… Hoppe’s Powder Solvent
Trade mark is the Nitro no 9 mark.

Hoppe’s no 9 solvent cleans bores and prevents rust in rifles, shotguns, pistols and revolvers.

Danger. Harmful or Fatal if swallowed.

Contains Ammonia, Denatured Ethanol and Kerosene Flammable.

No acid, just a combination of chemicals that protect guns from caustic affects of gun powder. :)

Finally got it!

Couple notes though.

1. I lost all of my coolant when this hose blew. Radiator was bone dry along with reservoir. Doubt it could have been reason it blew off though because I park in same place every night and I have NEVER seen any under my truck. I don't even leak oil.

2. I went with the QD install. Not the stock tubing and brass coupler, nipple thing. Took all of 15 minutes.

3. I was one of the lucky ones that mine didnt snap. And when i Hit it with liquid wrench first, then heated it up with my torch for 10 seconds, tapped it twice, and i just turned it with hand strength and my 30 year old ratchet and a socket with the 3/8" to 1/2" adapter. Turned right off.

4. On a side not, I plugged the old one with piece of paper towel to keep liquid wrench out or anything else while i was working.
