Hi guys I need some help installing a nbs (01-02) DIC like the ones found in the center console of a nbs Denali. I’ve seen many installs regarding the over head DIC but none with the one I want. Search function didn’t help and google didn’t turn up anything either, any help is greatly appreciated.

The 2004 Ford F-350 that I custom ordered came without the overhead console display unit, so I sourced one from the same model year Excursion. Seems Ford, and likely GM, used one wiring harness for the overhead consoles, no matter which options you have. My particular model, with cloth seats I wanted, didn't offer the overhead console with fuel mileage display, compass, and so forth, just the map lights and control for the sun roof I ordered. It took me some months, but I finally found one with all the bells and whistles in the gray color I needed to match, and in the short version for the sun roof. Completely plug and play, with one exception. I haven't found the outside air temperature sensor so far, so that function doesn't work. I'm pretty sure that the wiring is there, just need the sensor.

It seems to me that your issue is one of too great a time span between the vehicle you have and the tech you want to add. I do look longingly at that blank space usually used for the rear AC controls in Suburbans, but not for an electronic display. I plan to keep on looking, though.

Ever try to use an air temp sensor from a GM? I retro'd a mirror with compass and outside air temp into my Express cargo van using a sensor from a Tahoe. Works like a champ.

I did the same thing on my 99 Dakota, and my 2001 Durango. I wanted the exterior temp and my Dakota didn’t have the overhead console that showed that as it wasn’t a feature until 2001. So I pulled a Center view mirror with the single display line in the glass out of a 98 burb that had the temp display, and replaced my already installed auto dimming mirror. Lol. Also pulled the temp sensor from the burb, put it all together and worked like a champ as. Well haha. Then with the Durango I did the same thing but with an onstar buttoned mirror out of a 2003 slt Yukon that was in the junkyard. Pulled the temp sensor with it and it worked fine. Usually those temp sensors only have two wires going to their power harness.

I had to run wires all the way from the sensor to the mirror, then run it to key power. Besides my dd, one of my favorite mods to my work van.

Well to start a wiring diagram for the DIC would be awesome, I would assume it’s not too different from the other DIC everyone else likes to use I’m sure I could handle it from there with the pin out. Thanks

My Yukon has the rear A/C option which I would like to keep so putting one up in the overhead console isn’t something I would like to do instead I plan on installing it in the center console since I have swapped in a console from a navigator I have a nice little pocket that tends to collect junk... ps don’t mind the circled area that’s where I was thinking of puttting a GMC decal....

Nice spot for your Glock? Back to the help you were looking for. When I did mine, was a little hard to understand. Thought I had saved another pic of the wiring, maybe I’m over looking it. I’ve a few drinks in already!
